Intimidating

I’m smart. I’m also an obnoxious loudmouth. I’ve never seen anything I didn’t have an opinion about, a fact I didn’t want to research, or a piece of writing that I couldn’t improve. I can argue about anything, and do.

So sometimes there comes a moment in a relationship with someone else when I realise that the reason the two of us don’t click the way I wish we would is that the other person is intimidated by me. Saddened by the damage I have already unwittingly done, I try to find some way to become unintimidating. I rarely succeed - usually the best I can do is sort of muffle myself when with that person.
